ELENA CARLINI AND PIETRO VALLE

INTERIOR RENOVATION OF THE HARRIS HOUSE, LAWRENCE, U.S.A. 1995

1- Photomontage - view of the interior towards fireplace

The client asked to redefine the interior shell of an existing living /
dining / kitchen space. The large undivided room has been reshaped by
creating a new suspended ceiling that follows the existing pitch of the
roof and terminates in a gentle curved vault. Here, a series of narrow

skylights have been opened allowing diffused light to flood the room with
different gradations depending on the hour of the day. The room becomes an
interior sundial that changes with the hours and is marked by the slits of
light moving on the walls.
