On one hand this is a kind of vessel, a Noah's ark of artists that travels in the seemingly bottomless dark deep of the web.

On the other, it is our mission to fit the boot in a way one looks for a foot to match Cinderella's shoe. We keep fitting it on various artists and included those for whom it seemed to be shaped .

Many of the artists included have since moved on in the world, receiving well deserved attention within the art world. A few have passed away and we are thankful for having been able to include their work in das boot.

In 1998 Das boot started with a poem. Then there was an excerpt from a novel. Following this was an architects house and then paintings of an internationally active painter. Das boot rapidly evolved into a web entity that represents dozens of artists with a true range of works. It concentrates on the quality of a cultural entity that das boot now stands for. We keep a log on upcoming competitions and grants while announcing the featured artists via mailing lists and occasional advertisements. The variety and quality of work keeps intriguing us as we continue joining individuals into das boot.
